Program description for client promotional purposes:
The Cohesive Team: Working and Playing Together  (half day seminar)
The Cohesive Team: Managing the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team (full day workshop, 1 or 2 day RETREAT)

OVERVIEW / PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Team cohesion is a vital factor in building a strong organization and ensuring a place where people enjoy working together.  In this session, Suzanne Boswell will address elements of team cohesion that influence the entire team.  Participants will learn the key factors found in successful cohesive teams and will learn the factors that can cause a team to break down.  They will learn the "5 Dysfunctions of a Team" as proposed by Patrick Lencioni in his ground-breaking book.  At the end of the presentation the audience will see and experience what a cohesive team looks like and they will understand how individuals who are NOT members of their team may view their office!  Attendees will leave enlightened about the power of their own team and they will have had fun in the learning process!

The half day version (2.5-3 hours) is appropriate for any size group.  Ideally it is promoted for attendance by all members of the team.  Individuals who attend by themselves will not benefit as much as those who attend with teammates.  In this session an abbreviated view of building a cohesive team is addressed.  For deeper investigation of how one's team is functioning the full day version is suggested (below).

The full day version (6 hours) is appropriate for small to medium groups of teams (10 to 175 people).  This is a highly interactive session in workshop format.  Individuals who attend by themselves may feel "left out" during the experiential group work sessions and therefore this session is not suitable for attendance by individuals without teammates.  Teams will work though exercises to determine how the team can function at a higher level.  Lencioni's principles and exercises are used in this session.  This program is especially meaningful to teams that are in transition, teams with new staff members and teams that are experiencing "burnout" or conflict.  This is also an ideal full day session for study clubs with ALL-TEAM attendance.

The one-day to two-day retreat is designed for a team to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of the group.  This is a "roll-up-your-sleeves" session where the entire team evaluates the roadblocks that may hinder reaching their next level of progress.  This retreat is based on the ground-breaking book, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni.  Participants will complete several instruments to measure the effectiveness and weakness of the team and each individual.  They will participate in exercises to significantly move the team forward and they will develop a plan for future progress.  This retreat should be attended by all members of the team - staff and leadership.

This retreat is ideal for groups that:

Two facilitators (Suzanne Boswell and Jean Corcoran, PhD) will lead the retreat and assist the team in working through challenges.

Content will include:

  • Why team cohesion is so vital to every practice
  • Team cohesion and the successful practice
